ELLENSBURG – Barbra Brim, 50, of Ellensburg was rescued Wednesday after her horse jumped and landed on her in Robinson Canyon.
Brim was leading her horse across a creek when the horse jumped, landing on top of her.
“I don’t know what the final medical was, but they were pretty sure she had a broken leg,” Kittitas County Undersheriff Clayton Myers said.
Kittitas County Search and Rescue responded to Brim, traveling between two and three miles to retrieve her.

The only way for the eight search and rescuers to reach Brim was by four-wheeler and by foot.
Brim was carried out the first couple miles on the four-wheeler until she lost consciousness. From there, she was carried out on a wheel-litter.
A wheel-litter is a backboard with a wheel in the center of it, allowing rescuers to wheel the victim out if there is a trail or clear ground.
“The rescue went perfect, no hang ups,” Myers said. “Besides the deputies, these guys that were there are all volunteers and they are really some of the best in the business.”
