Global warming: Upon further review it looks like a hoax
To the Editor:

More and more I listen to the experts and wonder, hum is this for real and often it drives me to the internet and I dig into a research mode for several days. So when I read leading Climatologist Kenneth Hare say and I quote, “I don’t believe that the world’s present population is sustainable if there are more than three years like this in a row,” I have to wonder.

Some of you may remember this, it was on the news, both television and radio. The papers ran articles on it for months. Our government even got involved and we had them trying to take the aerosol containers and freon away. We also got the new costs of having emission testing on our vehicles. Yep! Am I nudging your memory here? This all happened in 1974 when all the leading experts were predicting another ice age. If you don’t believe me just go to your computer and type in “1974 Ice Age.” Kenneth Hare is the former president of the Royal Meteorological Society and has lots of initials after his name; you don’t get an expert any better than that.

History talks about the Dust Bowl in the 1930s and do you know that the temperatures recorded then are higher than those recorded now, and yet we experienced mini ice ages in 1950 and ’51, again in 1973 and ’74.

Now today we are to believe global warming will be the end of us unless we all do something to stop it. Let’s see can we stop a hurricane? How about a tornado? How about just making the fog go away. Can we do any of these things? No, so how are we going to stop global warming?

So what are you to believe? Well, when someone makes three hundred million dollars by promoting a scare, an end of civilization theory, I sort of believe a scam is taking place. This is a movement by the extreme left and before they are through, it will cost us millions.

By the way the climatologists that the news media ignore today say the temperatures are already declining, so get your warm coats ready.

PS. If you want to research some more, read the records of Parliament in Britain, it will take you a while but it is worth it. Britain is a country that has environmentalized and preservationized them selves out of industry. Even they could not swallow Al Gore’s lies so his documentary on global warming is banned from their schools and the testimony in Parliament is good reading.

" Even if you don't believe global warming exists, what harm is there in living more considerate of the environment and the world's resources? If each of us would just do a couple of things it would help. So, change those lightbulbs, avoid the plastic sacks, drink water from the tap, turn off the water while you brush your teeth, buy local and buy organic...what's the harm? Then you all don't have to make comments that you know nothing about. Your ignorance on both sides is showing and it's not very attractive. "

" Im glad all you armchair Rush Limbaugh fans in Kittitas Valley (you know who you are) have researched global warming on your own and now have come up with the brilliant idea that its a Democratic lie. Ha ha. Republicans are soooo pathetic. Too bad your champion G Bush couldnt straighten out all our probems. We will be taxed to kingdom come AS A RESULT of the Bush War, or maybe we should call it the Republican sleight-of-hand Patriotic War. Thanks. I doubt whether Ill ever collect my social security as a result. "

" Yes George couldn't do as promised so we voted the Democrats into Congress and they couldn't do it either.. Whats wrong with this bunch? Lets all vote for Obama and we will get "HOPE" if nothing else and lets elect Gregoire and we can add yet another 9 Cents on our gas bill.. Sounds like a plan to me.. "

" One thing for certain in this World.. We will all Die in the end ...so really what does it matter when and how? Why save a dying planet for our children only to put them thru a living hell..

Global warming is about as far fetched as Al Gore inventing the Internet.. Just another Democrat who sucked the sucker's in..

The Bible states God made the earth and I think if I have been taught correctly he will be the one who decides when it will end.. Not you Not me Not Al Gore and Not Global Warming..

Just another way for some fool Democrat to tax people and make money off all of us..

I would be much more worried about becoming a communist type country here in America then I would about be killed by Global Warming.. Our government is taking control of everything we do and we are letting it happen.. "

" When I read that someone claims that Manmade Global Warming is an absolute fact and there is no room for debate, I wonder what that person has been reading to make such an absolute statement. I hope that it is more than An Inconvenient Truth. But if it is not, here is a home study course that you can take at your own pace to get a broader picture of the subject.

Open letter dated Dec 13, 2007 to Secretary General, United Nations---It is not possible to stop climate change, a natural phenomenon that has affected humanity through the ages. Geological, archaeological, oral and written histories all attest to the dramatic challenges posed to past societies from unanticipated changes in temperature, precipitation, winds and other climatic variables. We therefore need to equip nations to become resilient to the full range of these natural phenomena by promoting economic growth and wealth generation.

" Miki,

Gore's film was not banned. The judge who presided over the case found nine instances that were to be qualified. I agree with most of them. However, the judge did find the film to be a largely accurate depiction of the scientific consensus. "Skeptical" blogs of course would rather convey a different message.

Patrick Henry,

The cooling since 1998 is a talking point that is can be convincing to those who do not understand the various components that influence climate, ie an extreme El Nino condition. Then again, that is the skeptics target market. "

beninmv wrote on May 28, 2008 12:20 PM:

" There is a legitimate debate over the most effective ways to combat global warming and how the burden should be shared. There is also unsettled science over certain consequences of climate change. However, global warming resulting from human activities is real. It is sinister how special interests and ideologues are pushing talking points, disjointed facts, bogus petitions and flat out lies to create doubt. To me the smoking gun is that Fred Singer and the recently deceased Fred Seitz have played key roles in the denialist campign. They did it with the Star Wars debacle, tobacco, CFCs and now global warming. "

" It doesn't surprise me that, in this instant gratitude type of society we have in the US, that people would begin to doubt the existance of the global warming threat because it hasn't happened overnight. We have been blessed with a strong winter snowfall, mainly due to El Nina type ocean conditions in the Pacific. It is a great year for snowmobiles and timothy hay. Hopefully, we will have many more like last winter. But don't hold your breath. Eventually, and certainly in our lifetimes, we will hold testament to warmer winters that drop precipitation in the mountains as rain, not snow. Unless we devise additional ways to store water....very soon, even senior water rights holders will suffer and our local economy will be in serious trouble. It is a serious threat to the very existence of the communities within the Yakima River Basin. "

" Before coming to the late Climatologist Kenneth Hare first another point.

Have the skeptics a better approach than IPCC and consorts? Under the editorial guidance of the eminent climatologist S. Fred Singer, a group of about 30 scientists published a paper: Nature, Not Human Activity, Rules the Climate (by THE HEARTLAND INSTITUTE, 2008). By all respect for the work, the paper title is grossly misleading, if not erroneous. They actually review the extreme narrow question of carbon dioxide (CO2), but do not hesitate to make the pompous announcement that Nature, Not Human Activity, Rules the Climate.

Presumably science would serve the general public better when they would listen to Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) who said: Water as the driver of nature. Not nature rules climate, but water rules the nature on this earth, and the water on earth is so much synonym with the oceans and seas that it can be said: Climate is the continuation of the oceans by other means (see Letter to NATURE, Volume 360, 26 November 1992).

In 1979 Kenneth Hare had following to say about climatologists: This is obviously the decade in which climate is coming into its own. You hardly heard the word professionally in the 1940s. It was a layman's word. Climatologists were the halt and the lame. And as for the climatologists in public service, in the British service you actually, had to be medically disabled in order to get into the climatological division ! Climatology was a menial occupation that came on the pecking scale somewhat below the advertising profession. It was clearly not the age of climate. )Bulletin American Meteorological Society , Vol. 60, 1979, p. 1171 1124).
What a sea change in just three decades!

" Math question for Sith

If temperatures continue to cool globally - as they have for the last decade - how long does it take to warm up seven degrees as the IPCC predicts?

Fighting over this will not help. If global warming is false as you say then okay, now what? Are you going to pollute and add to our problems or actually try and make a difference?

Live free, help our species, or DIE! End of story! "
